Did you know sea slugs have orgies?
Weird. But true. They are hermaphrodites, meaning they have both male and female sex organs. According to New Scientist magazine, they can have sex with other sea slugs at the same time, being the giver and the receiver by creating a mating chain.
Dolphins are also very sexual creatures. They masturbate by rubbing their junk on other sea creatures and enjoy sex for pleasure. Dive the World is an organization that records experiences from dives in various places in the world. One article, titled “Diving with Dolphins,” states, “Dolphins are among the most sexual of animals....Occasionally, dolphins behave sexually towards other animals, including humans. Even lifeless objects are used for masturbation.”
Humans also participate in orgies, masturbation, and sex for pleasure. We are sexual beings. We naturally get a funny feeling in our pants from arousal due to an outer source (like another human) or our imagination.
As Homo sapiens, sex is part of our animal instinct. Sexual behavior starts with our brain, which then leads to arousal. It is part of our human nature to enjoy sexual desire and part of our human biology.
Our sexual reproductive structures are important in sexual arousal, and stimulation of them can produce highly pleasurable sensations. Blood rushes to the clitoris, the vagina's small erectile organ, which has enormous amounts of nerve endings. The penis fills with blood causing it to have an erection that is essential for insertion into the vagina. Like the vagina, the penis has vast nerve endings on its shaft that are highly sensitive.
Tingly sensations build up all over the body. Muscles contract, lubricants expel, breath becomes heavier, and heart rate increases, leading to the wizardly moment.
While all of the physical activity is happening, there is also something magical about it. Joy and connectedness arise between two partners. Emotions flourish and create a wild, exhilarating feeling that leads to complete bliss.
Margo Anand explores this feeling in her book, The Art of Sexual Magic. She spends time studying cultural traditions and teachings of sacred sexuality all over the world. She describes sex as an act that stretches “far beyond the realms of embracing body, mind, heart, and spirit and, indeed, the whole universe.” When we reach an orgasm, Anand says that a sense of wilderness is revealed. People feel out of themselves and grip on to the “wild” that resides within.
Orient this exotic view of the erotic. Sex is something that should not be taboo. It is an activity that is healthy (when performed safely and consciously), sensational, and natural. It is a sacred performance that connects us to all other sexual creatures. While sex is used for reproduction and to expand our genes, we also get aroused for pleasure just like dolphins.
